National Dog Mom’s Day This Saturday

National Dog Moms Day

During the second Saturday in May, National Dog Mom’s Day sends out a chorus of yips, barks, and howls of praise for all the dog mommas!

Our dogs are our family members, whether they came into our lives unexpectedly or as carefully planned additions. We adopt them as puppies, adolescents, or fully mature animals with a bit of baggage and yet, we find common ground, a connection and bond like families do. They know our moods, and we know theirs. We care for them, shelter them and share an immeasurable loyalty with them.

National Dog Mom’s Day recognizes the bond women share with their fur kids. When they humor us, charm us or even when they are naughty, they are like any other child to us.

HOW TO OBSERVE
1. On National Dog Mom’s Day make sure to get some extra cuddles.
2. Bake up some yummy homemade puppy treats.
3. Plan for some double pampering – a pedicure for you and paws for the puppers.

HISTORY
Dig – The Dog Person’s Dating App founded National Dog Mom’s Day to celebrate and thank the dog moms who dedicate their love and support every day to their dogs. It’s a different, special and visceral love that deserves its own day to be recognized and appreciated.

The Registrar at National Day Calendar proclaimed National Dog Mom’s Day to be observed the second Saturday of May beginning in 2018.

About Dig – The Dog Person’s Dating App
Dog people are always looking for ways to get dogs in their lives. You’ll linger near the dog park’s fence, you’ll repeatedly offer to dog-sit while your friends are away, and you’ll scan every dating app for photos of potential matches with dogs at their sides. If you’re lucky enough to own a pup, you know that things never work out with someone if they’re not as into your dog as you are. So Dig founders Casey and Leigh Isaacson built a dating app that connects dog people based on what’s most important to them. Dig is the best way for dog lovers and dog owners to find a compatible date.

There are over 1,500 national days. Don’t miss a single one. Celebrate Every Day with National Day Calendar!

Celebrate Your Beloved Pet for September 10th’s National Pet Memorial Day

Established by the International Association of Pet Cemeteries and Crematories, National Pet Memorial Day in an annual event held on the second Sunday in September, to honor our pets both past and present. It’s also a great time to think about and share with others the important role that beloved pets have played and continue to play in our lives. This year’s event will take place on September 10th.

Pets bring an abundance of joy and companionship to our lives, and they teach us many valuable lessons along the way. They don’t care what type of mood we are in or how we look. They are completely non-judgmental, and they are loyal until the end. These are only a few reasons why it can be so heartbreaking to say good-bye to a four-legged friend. The mourning process can be difficult, but it’s something we must face as pet owners.

Here are a few ways to honor and celebrate a pet that has crossed over for this year’s National Pet Memorial Day:

  • Plant a tree or a shrub as a living memorial.
  • Sort through your photos of your pet and make a scrapbook. Frame a few of your favorite pictures to display around your home.
  • If you saved your pet’s favorite toy, ball, or blanket, now would be a great time to revisit those items and reflect on the happy memories he or she once had with them.
  • Make a donation or volunteer at an animal-based charity or rescue. Giving back to animals in need may help you in the grieving process.
  • Talk to someone. Sit down with family, friends, or neighbors who knew your pet and share your favorite memories or stories together with them.
  • Burn a candle so that your pet’s sweet memory will live on. One Fur All’s Furever Loved Memorial Candle is the perfect option to do so. It also makes a thoughtful gift for those mourning a cherished pet.

The One Fur All Memorial Candle features a light and comforting fragrance that combines an array of floral and citrus scents balanced with a hint of citrus honey and golden vanilla. In addition to the pleasant and calming fragrance, the candle has a colorful and decorative design, making it visually appealing and a nice home accent.

On the front of the candle jar are rainbow paw prints in the shape of a heart. This represents the well-known poem, “The Rainbow Bridge.” Through this story it is said that when animal dies, they cross over the Rainbow Bridge where there are meadows and hills for all animals to run and play together. One Fur All embodied this story by using an array of vibrant colors, which they hope will help grieving families remember that their precious pet is in a safe and happy place. The candle jar is also decorated with loving words to describe their pet along with a quote: “Gone from my life but forever in my heart.”

Similar to all candles available at One Fur All, the Furever Loved Memorial Candle is specially formulated to freshen pet-loving homes and is made with 100% natural soy wax. It’s also made with an odor neutralizer and infused with their signature blend of essential oils. Some other beneficial features include: 100% cotton wick, hand-poured, dye-free wax, contains no parafifin/petroleum by-products, and It’s made in the USA. The candle has approximately 60-70 hour burn time and the jar can be reusable (reused or repurposed). Satisfaction guaranteed. Retail Price: $21.95.

Regardless of how you decide to celebrate September 10th’s National Pet Memorial Day, there is no wrong way to honor a pet. This year, take a few minutes to sit down and think about the wonderful animals that have enriched your life. For those who are celebrating a pet who is still alive, be sure to give them a big hug and some extra love and attention on this very special occasion.
