DogFest 2012 Was A Huge Success!

This past weekend, Open Doors founders, Ruth and Hugo Tschudin, held the 4th annual DogFest, a day of celebration for families with dogs, and a unique opportunity for adoptable pets to find their way into the hearts and homes of people who will love and appreciate them.

The event took place in Westwood that connects with Brookside, a popular county park, via a marvelous paved walkway through the cool, shady forest. There were guest speakers, various vendors and  fun ‘n’ games for the visiting dogs.

There were plenty of adoptable pets from rescue groups like Almost Home Dog Rescue of NJ, The Last Resort Rescue, Peace4Paws, Halfway Hounds and more.

Don’t Be Cruel Will Be At DogFest 2012

This year Don’t Be Cruel will be participating in Dogfest 2012. It is a day for dogs and the people who love them. The event will take place in Westvale Park, 235 Harrington Avenue,Westwood, NJ on Sunday, August 26 from 11:00am to 4:00pm. It will be presented by Open Doors an Amazing Grace Foundation and sponsored by Purina Pro Plan Rally to Rescue.

It’s the 4th annual Dogfest, a fabulous day of fun for families with dogs, and a unique opportunity for adoptable pets to find their way into the hearts and homes of people who will love and appreciate them.

In addition, they have a new venue–a newly-renovated park in Westwood that connects with Brookside, a popular county park, via a marvelous paved walkway through the cool, shady forest. The Brookside part has tennis courts, ball fields, pavilions, a playground, and a lovely lake.

Westvale Park has ballfields, a playground, and a set of doggy playgrounds, one for large dogs and one for small dogs.

Everything else remains the same: Guest speakers, adoptable dogs, great vendors and our fun ‘n’ games for the visiting dogs.

Special attractions include a police dog demo and Daniel, the winner of the Hero Dog Award, given by the American Humane Society, because of his work in eliminating the torturous gas chamber and other animal-rights endeavors.
