Happy Birthday, Patrick!

We have a very special place in our hearts for Patrick who will be turning “two-years-old” tomorrow on St. Patrick Day.

For those not familiar with the story, Patrick was the dog that was found stuffed down a trash chute of a high-rise in Newark right before St. Patrick’s Day 2011. After he was rescued and taken to the Garden State Veterinary Specialists in Tinton Falls, Patrick made a miraculous recovery.

Today Patrick is a healthy thriving pitbull. New Jersey New 12 recently caught up with Patrick on their segment of The Pet Shop.

In honor of Patrick and what he represents to many animal advocates, Don’t Be Cruel designed their first t-shirt called “Team Patrick.” Proceeds from t-shirt sales and other merchandise go to local shelter and rescues that want to help abandoned pets like Patrick.

Limited-Time Only: Team Patrick Shirts – $15.00

In honor of Patrick’s upcoming 2-year re-birthday & our 2-year anniversary, we is offering the Team Patrick shirt to our Don’t Be Cruel.org fans for $15.00! Regular price is $20.00.

This is the shirt that started Don’t Be Cruel.org. On March 16, 2011 a building maintenance personnel discovered a dog in Newark, NJ after being put in a trash bag and thrown down a 22-story apartment building garbage chute. The City of Newark Animal Control was contacted and ACO Arthur Skinner picked up the dog and brought him directly to the Associated Humane Societies Medical Department. After a brief time at the Society’s Newark facility, he was ambulanced to Garden State Veterinary Specialists in Tinton Falls — a referral hospital with 24-hour emergency care.

The dog amazed everyone at the Society and at Garden State by surviving with the 24-hour emergency care that they rendered. He was given a blood transfusion, a bath — and even a walk! In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, he was named Patrick.
